A New Devotional Book

Posted on December 5, 2012

Approximately three months ago, the Karns congregation undertook a project of writing a year-long devotional book.  I was hopeful that we could get 100 members to contribute articles, but when it was all said and done, more than 160 men, women, and children from Karns contributed a total of 365 articles for this book.

There were three reasons we took on this project.

  • One was that we wanted to give our members an opportunity to share some of the spiritual insights they have with their brothers and sisters in Christ.
  • Another reason was to be a tool to reach out to our friends, neighbors, and co-workers.  A book of spiritual insights, not written by a preacher, but by Christians catches the attention of people in a positive way.
  • And third, sharing our thoughts through this book is a way that we can “outlive ourselves.”  This book may allow some of us to continue to speak to others about spiritual matters even long after we are dead and gone.

I would really like to encourage you to pick up a copy of this book.  I believe you’ll be glad you did.  The youngest contributor was four years old, and the oldest contributor was 93 years old.  You can request a copy by emailing office@karnscoc.org.  The cost is very inexpensive: only $5.00 per book and $3.00 for shipping.  (There is no profit built into that cost, in fact, it doesn’t recuperate the cost of production).

(By the way, these would make great Christmas gifts!)
