The Definition of a Lie
by Steve Higginbotham
January 19, 2007
The story is told of a Bible class teacher who asked a little boy to stand and tell the class what a lie is.  The little boy responded by saying, "A lie is an abomination in the sight of God, and a very present help in a time of need."

This mixed up definition of a lie offered by this little boy does offer an explanation regarding why so many people are dishonest.  However, seeking immediate help in a time of need through the use of a lie is short-sighted, indeed.

Remember, the Lord said that all liars shall have their part in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone (Revelation 21:8).  Honesty is not only the best policy, it's the only policy for Christians!
