The end of the world will be Friday, October 21, 2011; or at least so says Harold Camping, the 90 year old founder of “Family Radio.” If you will recall, in May of 2011 Camping created quite a stir by predicting that the “rapture” would occur on May 21. When May 22 arrived, Camping seemed bewildered as he was briefly interviewed at his front door.
However, in spite of Mr. Camping’s bold claims that the Bible guaranteed the end would occur on May 21, he reemerged saying that May 21 was only an “invisible judgment” of God. On that day, everyone’s fate was sealed. From May 21 to now, no one could be saved. One’s fate was determined on May 21, and now five months later, on October 21, the physical existence of the world will come to an end.
If the Lord doesn’t return before I finish writing this article or anytime between now and October 21, I wonder what Mr. Camping will say when the sun rises on October 22? Maybe he ought to reconsider his understanding of what Jesus said in Matthew 24:36 when he said, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” And for our part, we need to be reminded of Romans 3:4 which says, “…let God be true but every man a liar.”
Friends, Jesus is coming again. There will an end to this world. The judgment day is coming. Don’t allow the skeptics, cynics, and critics who arise because of false prognosticators shake your faith in the real event. Whether the Lord returns in our lifetime or not, keep looking for and awaiting the day when the Lord returns. Only this type of vigilance will aid us in being prepared.
Just another example of the Devil crying wolf. Everytime he encourages someone howevr sincerely deluded to make such a claim, the devils minions shout all the more louder, “told you so, there is no wolf. You can all go back to doing whaterver it was you were doing. You are enlightened and safe”
Sad thing is, we aren’t safe. There is an end coming and most of us are not prepared. Can you imagine just how despondent Camping will be when he finally realizes just how many souls he has cost the Lord?
In a sense, Oct. 21, 2011 will be the end of the world. On that day, 152,505 people will die. That’s how many people on earth die each day. They die of old age, accidents, cancer, war, drugs, suicide and all manner of methods. For them, that day WILL be the end of the world. If they are adults, they will be held accountable for their actions in the sight of God. Only Jesus can intervene on their behalf and say, “He’s one of mine.” If the Lord tarries, 100 years from now, misguided preachers will make the same predictions and, in a sense, they will be right. The only thing that will change in this equation is the sum. As Elizabeth Holmes Reed wrote in 1842, “Tomorrow’s sun may never rise to bless thy long deluded sight; this is the time, O then be wise, be saved, O tonight.”
Hi Jason, thanks for your comment. I do understand what you’re saying, but I have a quarrel with your nomenclature. Words do have meaning, and if I die today, the world doesn’t end. My life does, but the world goes on. Furthermore, if a hundred years from now men are still making false prophecies concerning the return of Jesus, I would say that in no sense were they right just because people die on the day of their prediction.
Again I understand what you’re saying, in that every day people die and bring their earthly pilgrimage to an end, but to say such an event is an “end of the world” is in my judgment not an accurate way to refer to it.
