Life on Mars

This past week, NASA successfully
landed the "Spirit Rover" on the surface of Mars. Since its
landing, Spirit has sent a steady stream of pictures back to
Earth from the Martian surface. I can't help but be
fascinated by the pictures. Oh, I know, most of them are simply
pictures of rocks, or of a barren landscape, but the thought of
seeing up close, what in the night sky, is only a tiny red
twinkle absolutely amazes me.
As I looked at these pictures this
past week, I thought of the statement made by Yuri Gagarin,
Russian cosmonaut and the first man in space. Upon returning
from his first trip mission in space, he said, "I didn't see God
anywhere in the heavens." Of course he didn't see God. If he
couldn't see God on Earth, what would make one think he could
see him in space? But to those of us who believe, these images
from a distant planet declare the glory of God and show us
his handiwork.
Is there life on Mars? To be sure!
I see the presence of God in every picture sent back to Earth.
