As You Go To The
Polls

Months and months of hard work and
campaigning finally come to an end today. Today, our nation will
elect a new president. For months now, I've listened to the
commercials, debates, and news commentators speak on this
presidential race. I've heard both Democratic and Republican
supporters speak of the "issues" that are most important to them,
and here's the conclusion to which I have finally arrived:
Some people, regardless of their
political affiliation, have forgotten what the word of God
says. The Bible doesn't say, "The economy exalts a nation, and
recession is a reproach to any people." Rather, the Bible says
that "Righteousness exalts a nation, and sin is a reproach to any
people." (Proverbs 14:34).
As you go to the polls, keep first
things first.
"The Lord brings the counsel of
the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no
effect. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of his
heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the
Lord, The people he has chosen as his own inheritance...No king is
saved by the multitude of an army; a mighty man is not delivered
by great strength...Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who
fear him, on those who hope in his mercy. Our soul waits for the
Lord; he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice
in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let your mercy,
O Lord be upon us, Just as we hope in you. (Psalm
33:10-12,16,18,20-22).
