Jesus Or Santa?

Lest you think I am a holiday
hum-bug, let me tell you I am not. I love the holiday
season! In fact, just yesterday my wife and I and our four
children went out and cut down a Christmas tree and spent the
evening decorating it. I love the time with family, friends,
and the spirit of giving the surrounds the holiday season.
However, as I sit here, I am
made to wonder about a few comments I frequently hear from
folks. I am told by some that "Jesus is the reason for the
season." Others say we need to put "Christ back in
Christmas." Yet, I'm forced to wonder just what will happen
this year. You see, December 25th falls on Sunday, the Lord's
day. I wonder how many will celebrate with Santa rather than
worship our Savior?
I find it ironic to hear of
churches that will close their doors Sunday night, and people
who are already planning on staying home from worship while at
the same time proclaiming that we need to put "Christ back in
Christmas." I'm just wondering who will win out when we are
forced to make a choice between Jesus and Santa?
Well, we have less than a month
to wait and see.
