As Light As Pink

Posted on April 12, 2019

You’re probably familiar with the statement written by the prophet Isaiah, in which he said, “Come let us reason together, though your sins be like scarlet, they shall be light as pink.” … No, that’s not what Isaiah said, though one might think he did by the way some Christians act.
No, what Isaiah said was, “…though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18). So why then do we sometimes act as though we aren’t fully forgiven? Why do we labor under the weight of guilt? Why do we think that being “light as pink” is a better representation of our lives than to boldly affirm we are “white as snow?”
The bottom line answer is an issue of trust. In our dealings with our fellow man, when we hear of a deal that is “too good to be true,” we cynically say, “If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably isn’t true.” But that’s not the case when dealing with God. He is faithful, and he will do what he says (1 Thessalonians 5:24).
Friends, when God forgives, he forgives! Sin has not left a stain and tainted us pink. We’ve been washed and cleansed by God and the garments with which we are clothed are white, not pink. (Revelation 3:5)!
I get it; that just sounds too good to be true! But that’s what makes the gospel, “good news!” A child of God who walks in the light is as pure and unblemished as newly fallen snow. Friends, if you’re a Christian, quit fretting about your past, and embrace the love and total forgiveness God has extended to you. If you’re not a Christian, contact me, and let’s reason together.
